Where Does the Story Begin
Sometimes I ask myself that very question. How did I get here—serving seniors, their families, and professionals in the world of dementia care? When I first stepped into healthcare over 30 years ago, I had no idea that decades of training, education, and experience would eventually lead me to the most meaningful chapter of my life.
As an entrepreneur, an advocate for lifelong learning, and now a nurse of 22 years, I always believed my career had purpose. But nothing prepared me for the deeply personal journey that began when dementia entered my own family.
My father was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in January of 2023. Even though I had noticed subtle changes as far back as the summer of 2016, the official diagnosis still shattered me. Suddenly, everything I knew professionally collided with everything I felt personally.
From that moment, my mission became clear: to walk with other families through the fear, confusion, and heartbreak of dementia—to offer support, share knowledge, and bring even the smallest ray of hope into their lives. Someone once told me that if you want to rise above your own struggles, spend time lifting someone else. I carry that wisdom with me every day.
This is where my story truly begins—and where my purpose continues to grow.
